               Motivation is something that will always divide people's opinion. While some believe that it is going to define the learners' success or failure when developing new abilities,  others affirm that factors like learning conditions will be much more crucial for the learners' process.  How is that possible? I would love to become a billionaire!                  When I think about all the people I have met throughout the years, I have to be honest I do not know how I feel about the topic. On one hand I met students who had loving parents, a cozy home, good friends, access to excellent education, and even so did not feel excited about learning. On the other hand, when teaching poorer communities, many children and teenagers who did not have the minimum to live with dignity would be extremely determined and foward-looking.            O Brasil não é um país de leitores. Na última pesquisa do Instituto Pró-livro, o mais amplo estudo sobre o tema de acordo com a Folha de São Paulo, a média de leitura de literatura em 2019, no período de um ano, foi de 1,45 livros. Se temos uma porcentagem tão baixa na língua materna, imaginem em língua estrangeira!         Como professores e professoras de línguas, sabemos que nossa ação pedagógica vai além de competências linguísticas. Cientes da relevância de fatores culturais e sociais na nossa prática, será que lembramos da literatura? Entendemos como ela atravessa língua, cultura e sociedade?
